Nutritional Benefits of Mangoes

Mangoes are high in antioxidants, low in carbohydrates (although they are about 15% sugar – but good sugar!) and like other yellow/orange fruit such as pumpkin and carrot, they are an excellent source of beta-carotene (Vitamin A).

They also contain Vitamin E and selenium which help protect against heart disease and cancer. You can obtain 40% of your daily fibre intake from a mango. It is even believed that mangoes offer some protection from the sun, and can tan your skin? Hmmm... I’ll have to test that one!

Mangoes can apparently even help your sex life! Because of the 3.5 mg of Vitamin E in a mango, your hormonal system can function more efficiently. Gee, I guess I’ll have to test this too!

Well in case you were less interested in mangoes before you read the nutritional benefits, now you know that one of the nicest and messiest fruits in the world (note: there is no way you can eat a mango elegantly) is also good for you! So go out there and buy some mangoes, and bring some back for me!
